If you were looking for the typical English sausage then the Lincolnshire sausage would be your ideal candidate.

Produced by us the traditional way, they come as an uncooked sausage of coarsely chopped pork, cased in a skin made of FDA approved pig intestines known as "hog casings".

 

Ingredients include chopped pork, breadcrumbs or rusk, salt, spices and herbs. In the case of these Lincolnshire sausages the dominant herb is always sage.

 

The Lincolnshire sausage has its origin in Lincolnshire region in Great Britain. Every year the city of Lincoln (in Lincolnshire) holds a competition to see who can make the best Lincolnshire sausage.

HOW TO COOK ENGLISH SAUSAGES

1. Remove your premium ‘Traditional’ Pork Sausages out of the packaging and pat dry any moisture
2. Gently heat your heavy based non-stick frying pan, we must not get too hot otherwise the bangers will explode when cooking
3. Brush the non stick fry pan with the finest film of oil possible
4. Don’t overcrowd the cooking base, the sausages must sit flat and have enough room to turn over
5. Cook over medium heat turning regular until the whole sausage reaches a rich golden colour around 8 to 9 minutes for a thicker sausage
6. Leave to rest in a warm place at least 3 to 4 minutes
7. The sausages will become more firm as they cook, gently press with your thumb, the more spring back you get the hotter the protein cells have expand which means the more well done your sausages will be.
